Welcome to the Outfitter Tour! We're outfitting you with new colorways and suggested patterns, as we explore wild places across the country with you. Whether you want to knit or crochet, we have you covered!
Stop 7 Balmy Tropical Florida
Southern Florida is a trove of protected waters and lands, including three National Parks! You can stay in vibrant Miami Beach just where the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary begins. Within view isBiscayne National Park with the3rd longest coral reefin the world. Aquamarine waters bejeweled with colorful corals and undersea wildlife.
Explore farther west to the seven sandy islands of Dry Tortugas National Park. Named for the abundance of 5 different turtle species that live and nest there. A vision of tropical paradise also known for its wild birds, marine life and shipwrecks.
Head back to the mainland to the largest remaining subtropical wilderness at Everglades National Park, and one of the largest wetlands in the world. Adventurers can paddle their way through hundreds of miles of winding waterways and through mangrove forests. You can find crocodiles, alligators, minks, bats, maybe even an elusive Florida panther, hundreds of gorgeous bird species, and a fan favorite- manatees!
Manatees were once mistaken as mermaids across cultures. Today they are well known as endearing "sea cows," and are threatened species that are under close watch of researchers. They need warm healthy waters, and safe slower boating. They're still fighting against all too common boat strikes, habitat loss and pollution. Like countless other species, they are threatened by the eroding of the Endangered Species Act. Join the Save the Manatee Club to take action, or even adopt a manatee!
